Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - USA Volleyball had a dominant week on the international circuit as they went 5-0 at the World Grand Prix. In the process, they knocked off defending World Champion China.

The inaugural Youth Olympic Games also came to a close last week after nearly two weeks of competition that featured the top youth athletes from across the globe.

Track and Field star Bernard Lagat continued his impressive 2010 campaign as he set an American record in the 3,000m in Italy on Saturday, while triathletes Sarah Haskins and Mark Fretta picked up titles in Chicago.

The USA Men's Basketball World Champion- ship team began their march towards gold as well over the weekend as they began play in the FIBA World Championships in Turkey. The team is seeking to improve on its 2006 bronze- medal performance. Team USA last won gold in 1994.

ARCHERY: U.S. Men Continue Winning Streak

Despite weather conditions that at times reached the level of tor- rential downpour, the team of U.S. Olympians Brady Ellison (Chu- la Vista, Calif.) and Vic Wunderle (Charlotte, N.C.) as well as USA Archery Resident Athlete Jake Kaminski (Chula Vista, Calif.) set out to win and never looked back, claiming the team gold medal at the Korea Business Archery Tournament Championship.

The team continued their winning streak that started earlier this month at Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Ogden, Utah. The team set a new national record for the round scoring a 226 to the opposing team's 221, besting four Korean professional teams in their medal quest.

Serving as the Korean Professional Teams Championships, the event was host to 12 South Korean men's teams and 15 women's teams; the United States fielded the only non-Korean team at the event. Normally a Korean team selection event, this is the first time the event has been open to international participation.

BASKETBALL: Slovenia No Match For USA Men's World Championship Team

It was the second consecutive convincing victory for the Americans in as many nights.

Four U.S. players in addition to Durant finished with double digit point production. Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies) tallied 16 points and nailed 3-of-6 3-pointers, Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers) and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder) contributed 11 points each, and Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves) added a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds in just 13 minutes.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Jennings' and Wong's Gold Leads U.S. Medal Haul; U.S. Beach Teams Win NORCECA Silver, Bronze

The men's beach volleyball team of Casey Jennings (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Kevin Wong (Honolulu, Hawaii) won the United States' 10th SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal of 2010, beating eighth-seeded Brazilians Benja- min Insfran and Bruno Oscar Schmidt on Sunday at the US$380,000 Milner Open in The Hague, Netherlands.

Competing together for only the second-time on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, the 21st-seeded Jennings and Wong scored a 21-18, 18-21, 17-15 win in 60 minutes over Benjamin and Bruno to win the season's final men's event on the 2010 international calendar and claim the $30,000 first-place prize.

CYCLING: Gwin Takes Fourth; Koerber and Gould Also on Podium

The 2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup is officially in the books as racing wrapped up on Windham Mountain in New York's Catskills on Sunday with the men's and women's downhill contests.

Reigning U.S. national champ Aaron Gwin (Morongo Valley, Calif.) earned a spot on the overall World Cup podium in only his second year racing the World Cup circuit. His fourth-place finish in Sunday's final earned him fourth place overall in the final World Cup standings.

After recently deciding to switch her focus to downhill racing 2008 BMX Olympian Jill Kintner (Seattle, Wash.) was the fastest American woman of the day, posting a time of 3:26.10 to grab 16th place. The only other American in the women's finals, Lauren Daney (Stafford, Va.), made the 17th-place effort.

Saturday was also a good day for American women as both Willow Koerber (Durango, Colo.) and Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo.) wrapped up the Mountain Bike World Cup season on the podium, in second and fourth respectively in the final overall standings.

JUDO: Harrison, Rodriguez, Mallory Bring Home Gold at USA World Cup

Nine days before she was scheduled to leave for the World Championships in Tokyo, Kayla Harrison (Wakefield, Mass.) went into the USA World Cup held in Miami, Fla., with no set expectations.

But then, [on Saturday], she got some news.

"My coach [Jimmy Pedro] told me before finals that if I won I'd be top eight and would get seeded at Worlds," she said.

Harrison entered the finals of the 78kg division against 10-time World Cup medalist Catherine Roberge (CAN) after having defeated Roberge's teammates Marylise Levesque and Amy Cotton.

Harrison dominated the match and threw Roberge for a second waza-ari score to win the match in front of a raucous crowd at the Olympic qualifier and first- ever World Cup on U.S. soil.

Harrison's gold medal was the third for Team USA who finished the event with nine overall medals and placed just behind Canada who earned four first-place finishes and won the gold-medal count. Jeanette Rodriguez (Davie, Fla.) brought home gold as well as she defeated Keum-Mai Choi (KOR) during a sudden death period. Rodriguez and Harrison were not alone in the gold run as Marti Malloy (San Jose, Calif.) defeated 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Ketleyn Quadros (BRA).
