Buenos Aires, Argentina (Best E Casino) - Jose Pekerman will replace Marcelo Bielsa as Argentina's national team coach.

Pekerman, 55, is Argentina's former youth coach, where he guided many of Argentina's current stars.

"I feel like I'm returning home," said Pekerman. "I didn't expect this, but I look forward to this challenge."

Bielsa unexpectedly quit on Tuesday despite leading the team to an Olympic gold medal in Athens, a second place finish in Copa America and a strong World Cup qualifying campaign.

Pekerman said he is not planning on changing the aggressive style which has yielded the recent success for Argentina.

"The spirit of the team is going to remain the same," explained Pekerman.

Pekerman is expected to make his debut on the sideline when Argentina takes on Uruguay on October 9 in a World Cup qualifier. Argentina is currently in second place behind Brazil in its qualifying group.
