Dublin, Ireland (Best E Casino) - Roddy Collins was named Monday as the new head coach at Dublin City.

Collins takes over for John Gill, who resigned following a disappointing FAI Cup loss to first division Monaghan United, and inherits a club that currently sits at the bottom of the Eircom League table.

"This is a massive challenge, but I've been there before in situations like this and it's not one that I'll shirk from," Collins explained.

The 43-year-old boss was previously in charge of Carlisle United until 2003. He has waited patiently for the right opportunity to come along, and, apparently, feels the challenge at Dublin City is perfect.

"My way of working is to give 100 percent commitment to the job and that's what I'll be asking the players," Collins said. "From the tea-lady to the youngest member of the playing staff -- to get behind this club and give total commitment to achieving our goal for this season, and that is to finish one above bottom position."

Dublin City has 16 games remaining to turn around its season.
