Ottawa, ON (Best E Casino) - The Ottawa Senators placed defenseman Luke Richardson on waivers on Thursday. Should he clear waivers by noon on Friday, he will be eligible to play for Ottawa's AHL affiliate in Binghamton, but it's expected that he will not report to the minors and might retire. The fourth-oldest player in the NHL at 39, he has only appeared in two games and has been a healthy scratch most of the season. In 1,417 career NHL games, he has recorded 35 goals and 166 assists with 2,055 penalty minutes. The Ottawa native has added eight assists and 130 penalty minutes in 69 career NHL playoff games. He has played for Toronto, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Columbus and Tampa Bay.
