(Best E Casino) - Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals will try to halt a three-game losing streak when they visit the
Dallas Stars tonight at American Airlines Center.
The Capitals are 0-2-1 in their last three outings and have been handed regulation setbacks in the first two tests of a three-game road trip that ends tonight.
Ovechkin, who led the NHL in goals (65) and points (112) in 2007-08, has just two goals and two assists in seven games this season. He hasn't lit the lamp since notching a two-goal game in the second test of the season.
Washington's latest setback came Thursday evening in a close battle with Phoenix. Mikael Tellqvist, making his first start of the season, stopped 31- of-32 shots to help the Coyotes earn the 2-1 home victory over the Caps.
Peter Mueller had the game-winning goal for the Coyotes, as he recorded Phoenix's second tally of the game at 6:32 of the third period.
Brooks Laich had the lone tally for the Caps. Alexander Semin had an assist in defeat, while Jose Theodore let in both goals on 34 shots.
Washington has struggled on the road in the early part of the season, going 1-3-0 away from the nation's capital thus far. The Caps will return home for Tuesday's matchup against Nashville, but will then go back on a two-game swing with contests in Buffalo and Ottawa.
The Stars, meanwhile, recently completed a three-game trek with a 2-1-0 record, ending the East Coast trip with Thursday's victory on Long Island. Mike Ribeiro had a goal and a career-high four assists to lead Dallas to the 5-3 decision over the New York Islanders.
Loui Eriksson had a pair of goals while Brenden Morrow finished with a goal and two assists for the Stars, who had lost three of four coming into the contest. The line of Ribeiro, Eriksson and Morrow was reunited for Thursday's game and will likely remain intact tonight, considering the success it had against the Isles.
Marty Turco made 24 saves in the win to improve his record to 3-4-1 on the season.
Dallas, which will complete a brief two-game stand Wednesday against Minnesota, is 1-1-1 in Texas this season.
The Caps and Stars last met on November 30, 2006 in DC and Washington earned a 4-3 decision to halt a five-game slide in the series. The Capitals have still lost three straight and eight of their last nine tests in Dallas.
