Arlington, VA (Best E Casino) - The Washington Capitals signed defenseman John Erskine to a two-year contract extension on Thursday. Per club policy, financial terms of the pact were not disclosed. The 28-year-old Erskine could have been an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He collected two goals and seven assists in 51 games last season for the Capitals, who captured the Southeast Division title. Erskine was a second-round selection of the Dallas Stars, taken 39th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He has amassed six goals, 16 assists and 512 penalty minutes while logging time for Stars, Islanders and Caps.
