(Best E Casino) - The
Dallas Stars will complete a three-game tour of the East Coast tonight, when they visit the
New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum.
The Stars have split the first two games of their swing, beating the New York Rangers, 2-1, on Monday before getting slammed Wednesday evening at New Jersey. Dallas, which is just 1-3-0 as the visiting club this year, will return home after tonight's test for a two-game homestand against Washington and Minnesota.
In Wednesday's test, Martin Brodeur stopped all 21 shots he faced to record his 98th career shutout and the Devils routed Dallas by a 5-0 score at Prudential Center. John Madden had a pair of goals for Jersey.
Marty Turco stopped three of the 17 shots he faced but was yanked in the second period in favor of Tobias Stephan. Stephan halted 10-of-12 shots for the Stars, who have dropped three of their last four tilts.
Turco, a three-time All-Star, has endured a dreadful start to the 2008-09 campaign. In seven games, he is 2-4-1 with a 4.20 goals against average and .841 save percentage. Stephan may get his first start of the season tonight in order to give Turco a rest.
Meanwhile, the Islanders will try to avoid a second straight loss this evening, when they begin a three-game homestand on Long Island. New York was last in action Saturday at Florida and was handed a 2-0 setback as Tomas Vokoun stopped all 31 shots faced for his 26th career shutout.
Rick DiPietro, who was making his first start of the 2008-09 campaign after missing the first four games while recovering from hip surgery, was solid between the pipes for the Islanders, stopping 34-of-36 shots.
New York has dropped two of its last three contests and has scored a total of five goals over that span.
The Islanders are 1-1-0 as the host team this season. They'll also welcome Carolina and the rival New York Rangers during the current homestand.
New York is 5-1 with a tie in the last seven encounters with the Stars, but Dallas has taken six of its previous nine contests at the Coliseum.
