Columbus, OH (Best E Casino) - Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Steve Mason underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday and will be sidelined for four to six weeks.

Mason, who was Columbus' second pick in the 2006 Entry Draft, suffered the injury last spring playing with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League.

"Steve's knee has not responded to his earlier procedure as well as we had hoped, so this was the next step towards his making a full recovery and getting back on the ice as soon as possible," said Columbus general manager Scott Howson.

Mason went 32-7-3 with a 2.51 goals-against average in 42 games with London and Kitchener in 2007-08, ranking third in the OHL in wins and fifth in GAA.
