Cincinnati, OH (Best E Casino) - The Cincinnati Bengals signed veteran cornerback Jamar Fletcher to a one-year contract Tuesday. Fletcher, an eighth year pro, has played in 108 career NFL games with Miami, San Diego, Detroit and Houston, recording seven interceptions and 213 tackles. He played with the Texans in 2007, appearing in 10 games with two starts and logging 13 tackles with three passes defensed and a forced fumble. To make room for Fletcher, the Bengals waived cornerback Geoffrey Pope, a first-year player from Howard. Pope was signed to the roster from the Bengals' practice squad on September 16 and played on special teams last week versus the New York Giants. The Bengals also released rookie wide receiver Maurice Purify from the practice squad.
