(Best E Casino) - Freddy Garcia tries to follow up a successful season debut this evening, when the Detroit Tigers play the second of three games against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park.

Garcia made his first start in over a year on Wednesday against Texas and picked up the win after allowing just an unearned run and two hits over five innings.

The 32-year-old righty, who was limited to just 11 starts a year ago with Philadelphia due to injury, has faced the Royals 22 times over the course of his career, posting an 8-10 mark with a 6.01 earned run average in those outings.

Detroit could certainly use a big start from Garcia tonight, as it tries to avoid its fifth consecutive loss. In the opener of this set on Monday, David DeJesus went 4-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice, lifting Kansas City to a 6-2 win.

Alberto Callaspo extended his hitting streak to 16 games and scored twice for the Royals, who despite being in last place in the AL Central, have won nine of their last 11 contests. The Royals, who have finished in last place each of the previous four seasons, are now just a game behind fourth-place Detroit.

DeJesus also has a 13-game hitting streak.

Mike Aviles had two hits and a pair of RBI for Kansas City, while Gil Meche (13-11) was charged with four hits and two runs over six innings to pick up the victory.

Detroit, which had just four hits, lost for the 10th time in 11 games.

Zach Miner (8-5) yielded six hits and four runs over six-plus frames and had his three-decision winning streak broken.

The Royals will counter with righty Zack Greinke, who is 12-10 with a 3.59 ERA. Greinke won for the third time in his last four starts on Thursday against Seattle with a brilliant effort, as he scattered two hits over seven scoreless innings to nail down the victory.

Greinke lost to the Tigers the last time he faced them, but is 7-4 lifetime against them with a 3.50 ERA in 16 games, 13 of which have been starts.

Kansas City has won nine of its 16 matchups with the Tigers this season, but Detroit has won seven of the last 10 encounters.
