(Best E Casino) - Brandon Webb takes aim at win No. 22 this evening when the Arizona Diamondbacks open a four-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Arizona, of course, comes into tonight's contest 2 1/2 games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

Webb, though, seems to have gotten back on track after a three-start losing streak. The sinkerball specialist won his second consecutive start on Wednesday against San Francisco, as he allowed three runs (two earned) and eight hits in seven innings, upping his record to 21-7, while lowering his earned run average to 3.26.

With a win tonight, Webb would become the NL's first 22-game winner since Dontrelle Willis was 22-10 in 2005. Arizona hasn't had someone win that many games since Randy Johnson won a team-record 24 in 2002.

Webb has faced the Cardinals seven times and is 2-4 against them with a 4.43 ERA.

Arizona took two of three over the weekend from the Colorado Rockies, including Sunday's 13-4 rout at Coors Field. Chris Young had three hits, including a homer and three-run triple, to drive in four runs to pace the offense.

Adam Dunn added three RBI, while Josh Whitesell clubbed his first major league homer for the Diamondbacks, who have won six of their last seven games.

Dan Haren (16-8) allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings for Arizona.

St. Louis, meanwhile, continued to play out the string this weekend and lost two of three to the NL Central-champion Chicago Cubs, including a 5-1 setback on Sunday at Wrigley Field.

Braden Looper (12-14) took the loss after yielding four runs on nine hits over six frames, while fanning six and walking one.

Albert Pujols drove in the lone run in the loss, while Skip Schumaker went 3- for-4 and scored the lone run for the Cardinals, who have dropped two straight and nine of their last 11.

Getting the call for the Cards tonight will be righty Todd Wellemeyer, who is 12-8 with a 3.66 ERA. Wellemeyer lost for the fourth time in his last five starts on Wednesday in Cincinnati, as the Reds reached him for three runs and four hits in six innings.

Wellemeyer is 0-2 lifetime against the D'Backs with an 8.22 ERA in five games (one start).

Arizona took two of three from the Cards earlier in the season. St. Louis, though, has won five of its last seven at home in this series.
