Landover, MD (Best E Casino) - Santana Moss caught seven balls for 75 yards, including the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, as the Washington Redskins escaped with a 24-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in a hard- hitting Week 3 bout.

Jason Campbell connected on 22-of-30 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns for Washington (2-1), which has won seven straight against Arizona. Clinton Portis was held in check with 68 yards rushing and a score on 21 carries, while the Redskins' defense came through with a pair of turnovers and two sacks.

"They came in and put eight in the box to try and stop the run and it opened up our passing game," Campbell said. "That's what teams are going to do. We have to be ready to the let the ball loose and be ready to throw it. We're not just going to be one dimensional."

Kurt Warner was 16-of-30 for 192 yards with two touchdowns and a costly interception for Arizona (2-1), which had an opportunity to win its first three games of the season for the first time since 1974. Larry Fitzgerald hauled in seven balls for 109 yards, including a career-high 62-yard touchdown.

Edgerrin James logged 93 yards on the ground on 18 carries but also fumbled, as Arizona failed to reach the 20-point plateau for the first time in 11 games dating back to last season.

With the score tied, 17-17, early in the fourth quarter, Warner went deep down the field looking for Steve Breaston. The ball deflected off a defender's helmet and Carlos Rogers dove to grab the carom and ran back the interception 42 yards to the Arizona 15.

Two plays later Moss took a screen pass 17 yards for the go-ahead score at the 12:10 mark of the fourth quarter.

Later in the frame, the Redskins had a 68-yard touchdown pass to Devin Thomas nullified because of an unnecessary roughness penalty. Washington still chewed up the next six minutes on the clock, but Shaun Suisham missed a 52-yard field goal attempt wide left, giving Arizona the ball at its own 42 with 3:23 to play.

The Cardinals went three-and-out and curiously punted to Washington's own 16, from which point the Redskins got two first downs and ran the clock out.

Washington converted on its first possession of the game with Portis capping the 11-play, 60-yard drive on a three-yard TD run off the left side 6 1/2 minutes in.

Warner marched his team into enemy territory on Arizona's first drive, and on 4th-and-1 at the Washington 41, the Cardinals appeared to have a long touchdown pass. However, the play clock ran out before the snap and the Cardinals were forced to punt.

"There's no doubt in my mind I got the play off," said Warner, who was visibly upset at the call while heading on the sidelines.

On the last play of the first quarter, Washington linebacker Rocky McIntosh put a big hit on James, causing the back to fumble at the Arizona 34-yard line. Suisham later knocked through a 48-yard kick for a 10-0 lead.

"If you win the turnover battle you're going to win your share of football games," Redskins linebacker London Fletcher said.

The Cardinals put some points on the board before the end of the half. The drive was extended on a pass interference call on 3-and-9 at the Redskins 34, and Warner hit Anquan Boldin on a quick slant two plays later for a four- yard score at the 2:43 mark of the second.

Arizona tied the game 5 1/2 minutes into the third quarter on a 26-yard field goal from Neil Rackers. Three third-down conversions -- one on a roughing-the- passer penalty -- kept that drive alive.

The 'Skins, who didn't gain a first down in the second quarter, came back to life on the ensuing possession. The series included an end-around 11-yard pass from Antwaan Randle El to Chris Cooley. The tight end Cooley later caught a 16-yard pass to set up Todd Yoder's two-yard TD reception from Campbell.

Arizona finally went downfield to answer Washington's touchdown, as Warner threw a perfect strike to Fitzgerald down the middle of the field for a 62- yard score, tying the game at 17-17 with 1:53 left in the third stanza.

Game Notes
