Texas Tech scored on six of seven possessions in the first half and never looked back.

The Red Raiders took the opening kickoff and moved the ball quickly down the field, with Woods' two-yard touchdown run capping the nine-play, 58-yard drive. After UMass went three-and-out on its first offensive series, Harrell connected with Tramain Swindall for a 17-yard TD.

A 53-yard fumble return by Brian Ellis put the visitors on the board, but Harrell's 12-yard TD pass to Eric Morris with 39 seconds remaining in the first quarter gave the Red Raiders a 21-7 advantage.

Texas Tech continued to overwhelm the Minutemen in the second stanza. Woods broke off a 38-yard run for a score and Harrell threw touchdown passes of two yards to Crabtree and four yards to Morris to give the Red Raiders a commanding 42-7 lead at the break.

Coen's first pass of the second half was picked off by Darcel McBath, and he raced 45 yards for the touchdown. Woods' third TD of the game -- an 18-yarder -- made it a 56-7 game with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter.
