Arlington, TX (Best E Casino) - Garret Anderson hit a two-run homer, knocked in three and scored two as the
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beat the
Texas Rangers, 7-3, in the middle contest of a three-game series.
Anderson finished 3-for-4 with a walk and Erick Aybar had a pair of hits, including a double, and three runs scored for the Angels, who have won three straight and eight of their last 10 games.
Dustin Moseley started for the Angels and allowed three runs on eight hits in five-plus innings, recording three strike outs and one walk. Justin Speier (2-8) got the win after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Francisco Rodriguez retired the final batter in the bottom of the ninth to record his 60th save of the season.
Hank Blalock went 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and run scored for Texas, which has dropped three in a row and five of its last seven.
Vicente Padilla (13-8) took the loss after tossing six-plus innings and surrendering five runs on seven hits. The right-hander threw two wild pitches, struck out five and walked three. He fell to 1-1 against the Angels this season and 4-3 in 11 lifetime games, which includes 10 starts.
Anderson's two-run homer over the right-field fence in the top of the third gave the Angels the early lead. However, the Rangers got a run back in the home half on a run-scoring ground out by Joaquin Arias.
Chris Davis' RBI single to right in the bottom of the fourth scored Blalock, who reached on a double, tying the game at 2-2.
The Angels regained the lead in the top of the sixth. Vladimir Guerrero got things started with a leadoff double and was replaced by pinch-runner Kendry Morales. After the next two batters were retired, Brandon Wood grounded a single back up the middle to give the visitors a one-run lead.
Blalock's single scored Marlon Byrd in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. Texas was looking for more, but with runners on second and third and one out, Davis and Ramon Vazquez went down on strikes to end the threat.
In the top of the seventh LA went back in front by a pair. A wild pitch by Padilla plated Sean Rodriguez, who led off with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and took third on a single by Aybar. Anderson's line single to right brought in another to put the Angels up 5-3.
The Angels tacked on a couple of insurance runs in the top of the ninth when Morales doubled home Aybar and Gary Matthews Jr. walked with the bases loaded.
In the home half of the ninth, Jason Bulger came on and issued a leadoff walk to Josh Hamilton, before retiring the next two batters. However, the right- hander gave up a base hit to Blalock, leaving runners on the corners, and was lifted in favor of Francisco Rodriguez. The Angels' closer then got Nelson Cruz to fly out to left to end the game.

The Angels will start John Lackey (11-4) in Sunday's finale, while Scott Feldman (5-7) will take the mound for the Rangers...The Angels have won 10 of their 15 matchups with the Rangers this season, including six of the eight games in Arlington.
