Hamilton, ON (Best E Casino) - Kevin Glenn threw for a season-high 368 yards with two touchdowns and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers edged the Hamilton Tiger- Cats, 25-23, in the annual Hall of Fame game from Ivor Wynne Stadium.
Glenn, who was 28-of-37 passing, helped improve the Bombers' (4-8) playoff picture significantly, as Winnipeg moved into a tie for second place with Toronto in the East Division with eight points. Toronto travels to Calgary for a Sunday tilt in the first of a home-and-home matchup.
Derick Armstrong caught seven passes for 126 yards and a touchdown while Terrence Edwards also nabbed seven balls, with 100 yards receiving and a score. Fred Reid ran for 63 yards on 12 carries.
Casey Printers was 8-of-18 for 110 yards and a touchdown but was yanked for the second half after taking four first-half sacks. Quinton Porter, a Boston College product, took over in the second half and tossed his first CFL touchdown pass amid an 11-of-17 performance for 183 yards. Prechae Rodriguez had six grabs for a game-high 136 yards and a touchdown while Tony Miles had five receptions for 70 yards.
Terry Caulley, filling in for the injured Jesse Lumsden, rushed eight times for 46 yards and found the end zone for Hamilton (2-10).
A single from Nick Setta started the scoring but Winnipeg answered with a 63- yard touchdown strike from Glenn to Armstrong and the Bombers held a 7-1 lead after one quarter.
Hamilton opened the second quarter with an 18-yard touchdown from Printers to Scott Mitchell for an 8-7 advantage. The Bombers reacquired the lead, however, on a 26-yard field goal from Alexis Serna and a safety made it 12-8 Winnipeg. Glenn then hooked up with Edwards on a 19-yard score for a 19-8 halftime lead.
Hamilton cut the lead to 19-15 on a Caulley seven-yard touchdown run in the third and Winnipeg countered with a 45-yard field goal from Serna to take a 22-15 lead into the final stanza.
The game remained tight in the fourth, and after a safety by Winnipeg, Porter threw his first touchdown pass, a 42-yarder to Rodriguez, making it a 24-22 game but the teams traded singles down the stretch and the Bombers' escaped with a 25-23 victory.

Hamilton is 1-6 at home and 2-5 against conference competition. Winnipeg is 2-4 on the road and 3-4 within the East...Winnipeg owns the playoff tiebreaker with Toronto by way of head-to-head wins. The Bombers pounded the Argonauts 39-9 at Rogers Center last week...Blue Bombers offensive lineman Matt Sheridan will require season-ending shoulder surgery. The eight-year veteran has a torn labrum, a cyst that needs to be removed and a collarbone injury. Sheridan will be placed on the nine-game injured list...Glenn has eight touchdown passes in the last three games...Hamilton, the home of the CFL Hall of Fame, is hosting induction festivities this weekend. The Class of 2008 inductees includes Doug Flutie, Mike Pringle, Mike "Pinball" Clemons, John Bonk and Tom Shepherd...The festivities were tempered somewhat with the loss of CFL legend Ron Lancaster (1938-2008) this past week. Lancaster, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982, had been battling lung cancer. He enjoyed a prosperous 19-year playing career, mostly with Saskatchewan, where he quarterbacked the club to its first-ever Grey Cup title in 1966. He also led both Edmonton and Hamilton to Grey Cup championships in the 1990s as a head coach.
