Minneapolis, MN (Best E Casino) - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson will be sidelined two-to-three weeks with a mild sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, the team announced on Thursday.

It was not disclosed how the injury occurred, but Jefferson is expected to recover in time to start the regular season.

In his first season with the T-Wolves, the fourth-year pro didn't disappoint, putting together his best season thus far with averages of 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, and was one of only four NBA players to average at least 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds.

Jefferson was a key part of the trade that sent Kevin Garnett to Boston on July 31, 2007. The forward was selected by the Celtics with the 15th overall choice of the 2004 NBA Draft.

The 23-year-old, who was drafted out of high school, has career averages of 13.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest while shooting a respectable 50.7 percent from the field.
