(Best E Casino) - The
San Diego Padres continue a nine-game road trip tonight with the second test of three straight meetings with the
Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
San Diego got the trip off to a great start Monday, posting an 11-5 victory. Wade LeBlanc earned his first major league win and Adrian Gonzalez knocked in four runs in the victory.
Gonzalez had three hits, including a three-run homer, as he went deep for the fourth time in his last five games, while Brian Giles also had three hits with a pair of RBI and two runs scored for the Padres, who had dropped five of six. Matt Antonelli hit his first-career homer, while Drew Macias also homered.
Troy Tulowitzki doubled and hit his second-career grand slam, while Chris Iannetta added a solo homer for the Rockies, who had ended a seven-game slide Sunday with a win but fell right back into the loss column.
The Rockies will try to rebound tonight with Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound.
Jimenez is just 10-12 with a 4.18 earned run average on the season and is coming off a no-decision against the Braves on Thursday. He allowed three runs (2 earned) on five hits and four walks over five innings, marking the fourth time in his last seven starts that he has walked four or more batters.
The 24-year-old righty is pitching to a 3.36 ERA at home this year and is 2-3 with a 3.93 ERA in six career starts versus the Padres. He did loss to them on August 30, giving up six runs on two hits and five walks over 3 2/3 innings.
Shawn Estes will make his third start since returning from a broken thumb for the Padres tonight.
The 35-year-old had been out since May 28 before returning on September 4 to defeat the Brewers. He threw six innings of one-run ball on that day, but was then tagged for five runs on six hits over five innings of a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Estes fell to 2-2 with a 3.82 ERA on the season and is 11-5 with a 3.96 ERA in 21 career games versus the Rockies.
San Diego is 9-7 against Colorado this season, having won three straight, and now owns a 4-3 edge at Coors Field this year.
