New York, NY (Best E Casino) - Baltimore Orioles third baseman Melvin Mora was selected as the American League Player of the Month for August. Mora batted .418 last month with eight home runs and a MLB-leading 32 RBI. He collected a total of 17 extra-base hits, posted a .765 slugging percentage and a .455 on-base percentage. The 36-year-old native of Venezuela is batting .283 with 23 homers and 97 RBI this season. It is his second monthly honor with the other one coming in May of 2004. Others considered were Seattle's Raul Ibanez (.396, 7 HR, 31 RBI); Boston's Dustin Pedroia (.374, 6 HR and 20 RBI); Tampa's Carlos Pena (.278, 9 HR, 29 RBI) and Mora's teammate Aubrey Huff (.345, 8 HR, 26 RBI).
