Detroit Lions beat the
Buffalo Bills, 14-6, in each team's preseason finale.
Dan Orlovsky went 12-of-21 for 114 yards and a score for the Lions (4-0). Artose Pinner led the game in rushing yardage, posting 78 yards on 23 carries.
Gibran Hamdan completed 18-of-26 passes for 158 yards, while Steve Johnson led both teams in receiving with 74 yards on eight receptions. The Bills (2-2) managed only 228 yards of total offense, failing to score a touchdown all game.
Buffalo got its only points of the first half early, as Rian Lindell hit a 32-yard field goal to put the Bills up 3-0.
The Lions stormed back with 14 consecutive points. A safety and a Jason Hanson field goal put Detroit up 5-3 after the first quarter.
Felton caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Orlovsky to cap a nine-play, 61- yard drive with 11:03 left in the half, and the Lions would add their second safety of the game later in the quarter to account for the 14-3 score at halftime.
Lindell added a 45-yard field goal early in the fourth to cap the scoring at 14-6.
The Bills played one starter, safety Ko Simpson. The Lions played seven first- stringers, not including receivers Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson, quarterback Jon Kitna and rookie running back Kevin Smith.
Detroit lost fourth-string running back Brian Calhoun, who started on Thursday but did not return after sustaining a quadriceps injury in the first half. Rookie linebacker Jordon Dizon came up limping after making a tackle in the third quarter.
Detroit will head to Atlanta to face the Falcons in their season opener while Buffalo plays the Seattle Seahawks at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Both games are on September 7.
