Marlins resume road trip against battered Braves

(Best E Casino) - The Florida Marlins will resume a nine-game road trip this evening with the first of three straight meetings with the National League East-rival Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

The Marlins are 3-3 so far on the trek and took two of three meetings from the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field over the weekend. In Sunday's 5-2 win over the D'Backs in the series finale, Josh Willingham went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI to push Florida's road record to 32-33 this season.

Paul Lo Duca and Hanley Ramirez each drove in a run for the Marlins, who got a solid outing from starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco. The right-hander won his second straight start after allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings. He also knocked in a run at the plate.

In his previous start, Nolasco tossed a two-hit shutout in San Francisco on August 19.

Florida hopes Scott Olsen can have a similar outing and shake off a few poor recent showings when he takes the ball in Tuesday's series opener. Olsen is 0-4 with a 5.05 earned run average over his last six starts, and did not factor in the outcome of a 6-5 loss to the Giants on Wednesday.

Olsen allowed four runs and nine hits in six innings for the no-decision at AT&T Park. He is now 2-3 in 11 road starts this season and 6-8 with a 4.11 earned run average in 26 overall trips to the hill.

The left-hander is 1-0 in two starts versus the Braves this season and 2-4 with a 6.70 ERA in 10 career appearances (9 starts) against them.

Atlanta is pretty much in offseason mode already, having lost seven of eight and 12 of its last 14 games. After ending a six-game losing streak with Saturday's 8-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in the second test of a three-game series, the Braves suffered a 6-3 setback in Sunday's finale at Busch Stadium.

Braves starter Jo-Jo Reyes absorbed the loss after he allowed six runs -- five earned -- on nine hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings of work. Reyes did his own cause at the plate with two runs batted in, while Martin Prado added an RBI in defeat.

Taking the ball for the Braves tonight will be Jair Jurrjens, who has lost two straight starts and four of his past five outings. Jurrjens fell to 11-9 this season after Wednesday's encounter at the New York Mets, as he yielded six runs -- four earned -- on six hits in five frames of a 6-3 loss.

Jurrjens, who is 5-4 in 12 home starts this season, will be facing Florida for the third time this season and also in his career. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 5.25 earned run average after two starts against the Marlins.

Atlanta leads the 2008 season series with Florida by a 7-5 margin and has won three of the last four matchups between the teams. The Braves are 4-2 at Turner Field versus the Marlins this season.
