Edmonton, AB (Best E Casino) - Noel Prefontaine had 15 points with four field goals to help the Edmonton Eskimos score a 27-10 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a Western Division clash.

Ricky Ray was a pedestrian 17-of-26 for 195 yards with a touchdown and an interception coming off a 436-yard, four-touchdown performance in a loss to B.C. prior to the team's bye. Kamau Peterson hauled in seven catches for 80 yards and a score while A.J. Harris busted out for 189 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries for Edmonton (5-3). Harris added four receptions for 30 yards.

The 'Riders (6-2) appeared to have needed another week off following their bye as quarterback Marcus Crandell struggled mightily to mount any sort of offense after the first quarter. He was pulled in the fourth after completing just seven of 24 pass attempts for 134 yards and a first-quarter touchdown. Wes Cates bounced back from an awful 20-yard performance in the team's first loss to Calgary with 77 yards on 14 carries to go along with four receptions for 56 yards.

Saskatchewan continues to suffer from a barrage of injuries to key players as receivers D.J. Flick, Matt Dominguez and Andy Fantuz did not play.

After a Ray interception, the Eskimos took a 14-10 lead with an eight-yard strike from Ray to Peterson on the team's next series. A Prefontaine nine-yard field goal capped a 10-play, 93-yard drive with 55 seconds remaining and gave Edmonton a 17-10 halftime advantage.

Prefontaine took over in the second half, booting a 42-yard field goal for the third quarter's lone tally, then opened the final quarter with a single to cap off an eight-play, 44-yard drive.

A 33-yarder on Edmonton's first possession of the final quarter pushed the lead to 24-10. Steven Jyles replaced a wildly ineffective Crandell on the Riders' second possession of the fourth but the team just couldn't muster an offensive attack. Prefontaine hit from 12 yards out with 3:29 remaining and the team was able to cruise from there. Jyles suffered an undisclosed injury on the team's final possession and Crandell re-entered to play out the final 33 seconds.

Saskatchewan jumped out to a 10-0 lead with a conceded safety, single and a 35-yard touchdown from Crandell to Weston Dressler on the team's third series before Edmonton's Harris scampered into the end zone from 36 yards out with 15 seconds remaining in the first stanza.

Game Notes

The Roughriders beat Edmonton 34-13 in their only other meeting this season...Saskatchewan is 3-1 on the road this year and 3-2 within the West Division. Edmonton is 4-0 at home and 3-2 versus conference rivals. Saskatchewan had won its last four meetings with Edmonton coming in while the Eskimos hold a commanding 34-8-0 record against Saskatchewan at Commonwealth Stadium.
