Atlanta, GA (Best E Casino) - Atlanta Braves veteran pitcher Tom Glavine will make the dreaded visit to Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. next week to determine the extent of his left elbow injury. Glavine was placed on the disabled list for the third time this season on Friday due to a strained left elbow. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but Glavine is confident he will need season-ending surgery to repair a torn tendon. The 42-year-old lefty had not gone on the disabled list at any point in his career until this season, but has been battling elbow discomfort since early May. After a two-month stint on the DL with a partially torn flexor tendon in his left elbow, Glavine toed the rubber against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. The outing didn't go as the veteran had hoped, as he allowed seven runs on seven hits and four walks over four frames. Glavine is 2-4 with a 5.54 earned run average in 13 starts this season.
