(Best E Casino) - Nate Robertson tries to continue his career success against the
Baltimore Orioles this evening when the
Detroit Tigers open a three-game set against them at Comerica Park.
After losing his first-ever matchup to the O's, Robertson is 4-0 in seven starts since. However, Baltimore roughed him up the last time it saw him, battering the lefty for seven runs and eight hits in just 2 1/3 innings. Robertson, though, escaped that miserable effort without a decision.
Robertson picked up his first win since June 21 on Sunday against Oakland, limiting the Athletics to a run and five hits in 7 2/3 innings, upping his record on the year to 7-8, while lowering his earned run average to 5.84.
The Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday, as Edgar Renteria hit a two-run double as part of a five-run eighth inning to lift Detroit to a 5-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Renteria finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Brandon Inge added a two-run single for the Tigers, who won for just the fourth time in the past 14 games.
Armando Galarraga (11-4) was solid in the start as he gave up just one run and six hits with two walks and six strikeouts in eight innings of work.
Baltimore, meanwhile, enters tonight's opener on a high note after Lou Montanez highlighted an eight-run eighth inning with two hits and two RBI en route to a three-hit night to lead the Orioles over the Cleveland Indians, 11-6, in the finale of a four-game set at Progressive Field.
Kevin Millar drove in three runs and scored a run on three hits for the Orioles, who bounced back to win the final two contests after allowing a total of 20 runs in a pair of losses to open the series.
Fernando Cabrera (1-1) earned his first win in a scoreless seventh inning, which featured one walk and one strikeout.
Rookie Chris Waters takes the hill for just the third time in his major league career tonight. Waters was magnificent in his debut, but was hit hard by Texas in his second start on Sunday, as he allowed six runs and seven hits in four innings. He did not factor in the decision of his team's 15-7 loss, though.
Waters had given up just one hit over eight scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in his big league debut five days earlier.
Detroit has split its four games with the Orioles this season after winning five of the six matchups a year ago, including all three in the Motor City.
