Charlotte, NC (Best E Casino) - John Kasay kicked a 46-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Carolina Panthers over the Indianapolis Colts, 23-20, in a preseason matchup at Bank of America Stadium. Kasey also booted field goals of 35 yards and 38 yards for the Panthers (1-0), who received a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs from DeAngelo Williams. The running back finished with 55 yards on nine carries. Jake Delhomme made his return to the field after missing the final 13 games of 2007 due to a season-ending injury to his throwing elbow against the Atlanta Falcons last September 23rd. The veteran subsequently underwent Tommy John surgery on October 18th. However, Delhomme only attempted one pass, which was incomplete, before being pulled after two series. Jacob Tamme caught two touchdown passes from Jared Lorenzen for the Colts (0-2), who lost to Washington in the Hall of Fame Game last Sunday. Colts starting quarterback Peyton Manning missed the game after undergoing minor knee surgery last month, but wide receiver Marvin Harrison made his preseason debut with three catches for 22 yards. It was the first time ever that these teams met in the preseason.
