Berea, OH (Best E Casino) - The Cleveland Browns put Gary Baxter's comeback on hold when they terminated the cornerback's contract on Saturday. Baxter, 29, joined the Browns in 2005 as a free agent from Baltimore, but he played in just five games before suffering a season-ending right pectoral injury. In 2006 he played in just three games before he tore the patella tendons in both knees while breaking up a pass against the Broncos in October. He missed all of last year while continuing his rehabilitation, and participated in training camp this year before another setback earlier this week. Baxter had arthroscopic surgery to remove loose cartilage from his knee on Tuesday, and Cleveland could not wait out his recovery any longer. Baxter has appeared in 62 games with the Ravens and Browns since 2001 and has recorded 299 tackles, three sacks and eight interceptions.
