Toronto, ON (Best E Casino) - Saskatchewan running back Wes Cates, and British Columbia teammates Cam Wake and Paris Jackson were honored as CFL Players of the Month for July. Cates earned offensive honors for the Riders by rushing for a league-high 632 yards and seven touchdowns in six games, averaging 105.3 yards per contest. He also caught 19 balls for 234 yards and two more scores. Cates' 866 combined yards in fourth in the CFL. Wake, the reigning defensive player of the year, picked up the monthly award by registering a league-high seven sacks, along with 23 tackles in six games. He was also named CFL top defensive player for Week 2. Canadian player honors went to Jackson, whose 28 receptions for 477 yards are team highs through the first third of the regular-season slate. The top Canadian player in both Week 4 and 5 is averaging almost 80 yards per game. Rounding out the monthly honors, Dominique Dorsey of the Toronto Argonauts picked up the special teams honor. The return specialist is tops in the CFL with 382 punt return yards, including a 94-yard touchdown last week. Dorsey, who was top special-teamer in Weeks 2 and 6, leads the league with 1,233 combined return yards.
