(Best E Casino) - The Baltimore Orioles wrap up a potentially very successful road trip with this afternoon's rubber match of a three-game set with the powerful Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Baltimore has posted a solid 5-3 mark thus far on its nine-game trek, and a series win over the Angels, who own the best record in the majors at 70-43, would certainly be a notable achievement for Dave Trembley's young club.

The Orioles evened things up with Anaheim behind a spectacular major league debut from Chris Waters on Tuesday. The 27-year-old left-hander baffled the Angels over eight innings to lead Baltimore to a 3-0 victory.

Waters yielded just one hit -- a Vladimir Guerrero single in the second inning -- and walked three over eight stellar frames. The minor-league veteran retired 14 of the final 15 batters he faced before turning the game over to George Sherrill, who finished off the two-hit shutout and picked up his 31st save of the year.

Luke Scott paced the Baltimore offense by going 3-for-3 with a solo home run, while Nick Markakis and Melvin Mora both had two hits and an RBI to help the O's snap a two-game slide.

Jon Garland (10-7) pitched well for Anaheim in a losing cause, as the righty worked seven innings and allowed three runs on nine hits.

Baltimore will send out another rookie southpaw in the finale, and Garrett Olson hopes to duplicate Waters' performance when he takes the mound this afternoon. The 24-year-old is riding a two-start win streak that includes a victory over the Angels on July 27.

Olson held Anaheim to two runs over six innings in that matchup, which took place at Baltimore's Camden Yards, and followed up with a near complete-game effort to beat Seattle this past Friday. He threw a career-best 8 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs on 11 hits in the Orioles' 10-5 triumph.

The California native will be making his first career start at Angel Stadium today. In nine lifetime outings on the road this season, Olson is 4-4 with a 6.19 earned run average.

He'll be matched up against Angels All-Star Ervin Santana, who was outdueled by Olson in that July 27 showdown. The hard-throwing righty lasted a season- low five innings and gave up five runs while laboring through 100 pitches to receive the loss that day.

Santana regrouped with eight dominating innings to defeat the Yankees on the road on Friday, scattering five hits and striking out eight in leading Anaheim to a 1-0 win.

The 25-year-old, who improved to 12-5 with a 3.38 ERA with Friday's decision, owns a 1-2 record and a 4.50 ERA in six career starts against Baltimore.

Anaheim has won five of its eight encounters with the Orioles this season and is 15-6 over the last 21 overall matchups in this series. Since the start of the 2006 campaign, Baltimore has lost in 11 of its 15 visits to Angel Stadium.
