Phoenix, AZ (Best E Casino) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension with pitcher Dan Haren. Haren's current deal runs through 2009 with a club option for 2010, and the extension will run through 2012 with a club option for 2013. The terms of his original deal call for him to make $5.5 million next season and $6.75 million in 2010. According to a report on KTAR 620 AM in Arizona, Haren will make a combined $31 million in 2011 and 2012 with a $15.5 million option for 2013. "At 27, Dan has established himself as one of the top pitchers in baseball," said D'Backs executive vice president and general manager Josh Byrnes. "We are thrilled to reach this agreement and keep him as a core player for many years to come." Haren was acquired from the Oakland Athletics last offseason in exchange for six prospects and has recorded a 12-5 record with a 2.75 earned run average and 142 strikeouts in 153 2/3 innings. He also appeared in the All-Star game for the National League, pitching two innings of shutout ball in a losing effort.
