Yankees to begin key trek in Texas

(Best E Casino) - The New York Yankees begin an important 10-game road trip this evening with the first of four games against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The Yankees won the final two games of their four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, including a thrilling 14-9 win in Sunday's finale at Yankee Stadium.

New York rallied from five runs down to take an 8-5 advantage thanks to a four-run seventh inning. Then after Mark Teixeira's grand slam in the eighth put the Angels back up by one, the Yankees took advantage of some sloppy defense and plated six runners in the home half of the frame on their way to the win.

Xavier Nady finished 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and a career-high six runs batted in, while Ivan Rodriguez added a solo home run -- his first in pinstripes -- for the Yankees, who earned a split of the four-game series.

The comeback made a winner out of Edwar Ramirez (3-0), who gave up the home run to Teixeira in the eighth. Starter Darrell Rasner surrendered five runs on seven hits over four innings, while Dan Giese allowed just one hit over three scoreless innings of relief.

New York closer Mariano Rivera was unavailable on Sunday due to back spasms. He is questionable for tonight's opener.

Heading to the hill for the Yankees tonight will be 22-year-old right-hander Joba Chamberlain, who has won his last two starts. Chamberlain defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday after he allowed two runs (1 earned) and five hits in six innings. He also struck out six without walking a batter.

Chamberlain improved to 4-3 this season and lowered his earned run average to 2.24 with the win.

Over his last three starts Chamberlain has surrendered just two earned runs in 19 innings and has yet to allow more than three runs since being inserted into the Yankees rotation in early June. The Yankees are also 8-3 when he starts.

Chamberlain received a no-decision against the Rangers on July 1 and allowed two runs and five hits in four innings of his team's 3-2 loss.

Texas will counter with veteran righty Vicente Padilla, who is 12-5 with a 4.52 ERA. Padilla did not factor in the decision of his team's 4-3 win over Seattle on Wednesday, as he gave up three runs and 10 hits in seven innings.

Padilla is 1-1 lifetime against the Yankees with a 5.23 ERA in two starts.

Texas took two of three at home over the weekend from the Toronto Blue Jays, including an 8-4 win in Sunday's finale. Gerald Laird hit a pair of two-run home runs in the victory, while Chris Davis added a solo homer -- his 11th in 33 games -- and ended with two RBI for the Rangers, who have won four of their last six overall.

Luis Mendoza (3-4) got the win after he lasted seven frames and was touched for four runs on six hits. He retired the final nine batters he faced.

Texas has won two of three from the Yankees this season, but New York had won 20 of 26 matchups against the Rangers the three previous seasons, including 11 of 12 in Arlington over that time.
