Kansas City, MO (Best E Casino) - Mike Aviles homered as part of a four- hit effort to help the Royals crush the Chicago White Sox, 14-3, in a brawl- filled rubber match at Kauffman Stadium.

Zack Greinke (9-7) pitched an excellent game before being ejected in the seventh for hitting Nick Swisher. The righty went 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs and six hits and fanning six in the process. Greinke has now won two consecutive starts for the first time since June 19-24.

Aviles finished the day 4-for-4 with three RBI and Billy Butler went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Miguel Olivo chipped in three RBI to give the Royals their sixth win in seven games.

"I don't know if people think that we're easy victories, but we don't feel like (that) here in the locker room," said Aviles.

Clayton Richard (0-2) had a tough outing in his second career start. The lefty threw only 4 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs -- six earned -- on 11 hits while striking out one and walking one.

A.J. Pierzynski homered and added two hits while Dewayne Wise and Toby Hall each added an RBI for the White Sox.

With the Royals handing Chicago its sixth loss in eight games and Minnesota's win over Cleveland, the White Sox have fallen out of first place for the first time since May 17.

The Royals began their offensive outburst in the second. Butler singled, and following an Alex Gordon walk, Olivo doubled to deep center, scoring both.

After Olivo stole third, Ross Gload hit a ground ball to Richard, who was unable to make a good throw home, allowing Olivo to score and give Kansas City a 3-0 lead. Gload was thrown out at second trying to advance on the error.

Aviles extended the lead to five two batters later with his seventh home run of the season to left.

Jose Guillen added a solo homer in the third -- his 16th -- to pad the lead to 6-0.

Kansas City piled on the runs in the fifth. With one out, three straight singles from Guillen, Butler and Gordon loaded the bases. D.J. Carrasco came in to relieve Richard and hit Olivo with a pitch, scoring a run and sending both benches into a frenzy.

Olivo quickly ran out on his way to confront Carrasco, but Pierzynski quickly grabbed the Royals catcher and held him back before any punches were landed. Although both benches cleared, nobody was injured and the situation was quickly brought to a close.

"I'm not going to bring in a guy who throws 85 miles per hour to hit somebody," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I'll bring in (Octavio) Dotel. I'll bring in (Matt) Thornton, then I will tell them to hit him. That's the way I do business. When my players hit somebody, it's because I tell them to hit somebody and I will take full responsibility after the fact."

After Carrasco was ejected during the incident, Boone Logan came in to pitch, and Gload immediately doubled home two more runs to make it 9-0 Royals. Two batters later Aviles added to his career day, singling home another run for Kansas City.

Butler's two-run double in the sixth gave the Royals their 11th and 12th runs of the afternoon.

Chicago finally got on the board in the seventh when Wise tripled home Brian Anderson, who had singled a batter earlier. Hall blooped a single a batter later, scoring Wise.

The White Sox added another run on Pierzynski's ninth home run of the season in the top of the eighth.

John Buck's RBI double in the home half of the eighth gave the Royals a 13-3 lead. Two batters later Mitch Maier beat out an infield single, allowing Buck to score.
