Los Angeles, CA (Best E Casino) - Manny Ramirez finished 4-for-5 with a home run and drove in three runs, as the
Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the
Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-3, to salvage a spilt in the four-game series at Chavez Ravine.
Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored for the Dodgers, who have won seven of their last 10 games and trail the D-Backs by one game for supremacy in the NL West. James Loney and Casey Blake each had two hits and knocked in a run.
"They kept giving me a lot of good pitches to hit," Ramirez said. "I wasn't thinking cycle. I have no speed for the triple. I'm just happy to be here."
Cory Wade (2-1) tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings to get the win. Starter Jason Johnson lasted 4 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits.
Stephen Drew was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI for Arizona, which had won nine of its last 12 games coming in.
In his shortest outing of the season, Doug Davis (4-6) was touched for five runs on six hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work.
The Dodgers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI singles by Ramirez and Loney. Arizona quickly countered in the top of the second. Alex Romero began the inning with a single, stole second and, after Chris Snyder walked, scored when Davis lined a base hit to left. Drew then the game with a single to right.
Los Angeles pulled ahead with three runs in bottom half. Angel Berroa led off with a walk, advanced to second on a Johnson sacrifice bunt and later came home on Kemp's RBI single. Kemp then took second on a wild pitch and Russell Martin drove him in with a single. Ramirez followed with an RBI double for a 5-2 lead.
"He's made our team better that's for sure," Martin said of Ramirez. "He's brought new life to our team. He's a fun guy to be around."
Arizona got a run back in the top of the fifth on Drew's one-out blast to right, but Ramirez answered with a lead-off shot in the home half.
Blake's RBI single in the seventh made it a 7-3 game, and the Dodgers extended their lead further in the eighth. With one away, Kemp crushed his 13th home run of the season. One out later, Ramirez reached on an infield single and raced home on Pablo Ozuna's RBI triple.
