Report: Favre is reinstated

Milwaukee, WI (Best E Casino) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly reinstated Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The newspaper reported that Goodell called Packers president Mark Murphy Sunday morning to tell him he has reinstated Favre and that the Packers have until noon Monday to create a roster spot for him.

Favre is scheduled to fly to Green Bay today and arrive at the airport at around 6:30 p.m. (et), according to the paper. He has to take a physical and a conditioning test Monday before being put on the roster.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that the future Hall of Fame quarterback was considering accepting a huge monetary package, to be paid for a lifetime non-playing role with the franchise, to remain retired. Those talks are still ongoing and a source speculated that Favre may be reporting to force the Packers to meet his financial demands.

Favre faxed his letter requesting reinstatement to the league on Tuesday of last week.

The 38-year-old Favre retired in early March at a tear-filled press conference, but since then he's had the itch to return for a 17th season. He met Wednesday with Murphy in Mississippi.

Murphy reportedly went to speak to the star quarterback and influence him out of reporting to training camp this week. Several media reports Wednesday said the Packers were offering Favre millions of dollars to stay retired, up to $20 million over a 10-year span.

After Favre's retirement, Aaron Rodgers was given the starting QB job, a position the Packers haven't backed off.
