Minneapolis, MN (Best E Casino) - Gavin Floyd allowed one run on just four hits as the Chicago White Sox earned an 8-3 win over the Minnesota Twins in the third matchup in a four-game set.

Floyd (11-6) lasted 7 2/3 innings yielding just one walk while striking out four for Chicago, which snapped a three-game losing streak and moved 1 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota for first place in the AL Central.

"This is a big one we obviously needed it after the first two games and you know, baseball's a funny game like that," Chicago's designated hitter Jim Thome said. "You just keep grinding it out, we have a very good club, we like where we're at. We know there's some teams here coming up behind us we have to make sure we stay on top of our game."

Carlos Quentin had three hits, including a double and homer, to finish with four RBI while Alexei Ramirez blasted a three-run homer.

Livan Hernandez (10-8) pitched just four innings in allowing five funs on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout for the Twins, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Justin Morneau had an RBI double and a run scored while Denard Span and Jason Kubel each scored for Minnesota.

"You want to win a series and that's it. You know a sweep would have been a bonus, especially against these guys, the first place team," Morneau said. "They're ahead of us. You know if we can make up two games in a hurry if we come back tomorrow that's pretty good. It could be a lot worse...they could've came in and swept us."

Quentin's AL-leading 28th homer came with two outs in the first to give Chicago the early lead.

Jermaine Dye's sacrifice fly in the third scored Orlando Cabrera, who led off with an infield single, to make it 2-0.

Ramirez and Josh Fields hit back-to-back singles before a Cabrera walk loaded the bases for Quentin, who hit a three-run double in the fourth.

Minnesota finally scored on a Morneau two-out double to plate Span in the bottom of the fourth.

Chicago retaliated with Ramirez's three-run homer, his ninth, in the seventh that scored Paul Konerko and Nick Swisher.

Bobby Jenks allowed two runs in the ninth for Chicago on a Delmon Young double the scored Morneau and a Brian Buscher RBI groundout.
