Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - The Philadelphia 76ers and free agent guard Royal Ivey agreed to an undisclosed contract on Monday. After spending his first three seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, the 37th overall selection of the 2004 NBA Draft spent the 2007-08 campaign in Milwaukee. The 26-year-old registered career-highs of 5.6 points, 2.1 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 75 games for the Bucks. "We're happy that we were able to add Royal Ivey to our roster," said Sixers president and general manager Ed Stefanski. "As we continue to add to our team, we feel that his versatility, ability to handle the point guard duties and defensive strength will bolster our depth and provide us with additional options in our backcourt." In 263 career games -- 109 starts -- Ivey has averaged 4.0 points, 1.5 assists and 1.3 rebounds in just over 14 minutes a game. Ivey joins a Sixers club that obtained the services of free agent forward Elton Brand earlier in the offseason, and the Texas product will compete against veteran Andre Miller and fourth-year player Louis Williams for playing time in the backcourt.
