Oakville, ON (Best E Casino) - Chez Reavie only needed a one-under 70 on Sunday to collect his first PGA Tour title at the Canadian Open.

Reavie, who came back early Sunday morning to birdie his last hole of the third round and grab the lead to himself, finished at 17-under-par 267 for a three-shot victory.

"I'm so excited," said Reavie, a PGA Tour rookie this year. "For this to be my first legitimate chance to win a tournament and be able to pull it off is pretty amazing."

Billy Mayfair put the pressure on late with a three-under 68. He took second place at 14-under 270 at Glen Abbey Golf Club.

Sean O'Hair also posted a three-under 68 on Sunday and tied for third place with Steve Marino, who carded a one-under 70. The pair finished at 13-under 271.

Reavie's early-morning birdie gave him the outright lead over Anthony Kim, a two-time winner this season and the 14th-ranked player in the world. Reavie didn't keep it for long with a three-putt bogey at the first.

Reavie, the 2001 U.S. Amateur Public Links Champion, got the lead back when Kim bogeyed two, but the two were even again when Reavie could not save par from a bunker at three.

At the par-four fourth, Reavie drained a 16-foot birdie putt to grab the top spot. Kim bogeyed the fifth after a poor drive and a poor second, so Reavie held a two-shot lead.

Both players birdied the ninth, then Reavie sank a 30-footer for birdie at No. 10 to take a three-shot lead into the back nine.

Kim bogeyed 11 to fall four back and that all but did in the two-time winner this year. Reavie three-putted the par-five 13th green for a bogey, including a missed four-footer that would have saved par.

Mayfair emerged as the serious threat thanks to three birdies in a four-hole span from the 14th. After his 14-foot birdie try at 17 fell, Mayfair was only two behind Reavie.

The leader hit a great approach to nine feet at the 16th, but missed the birdie putt left. At the difficult 17th, Reavie hit the closest approach of the round, inside seven feet. He missed that putt as well, and had a two-shot cushion on the 18th tee.

Mayfair sailed over the green with his four-iron second at the par-five closing hole. He landed in a bunker and nearly hit a spectacular shot, but the ball never released toward the hole. Mayfair gave his birdie putt a good chance, but missed.

Reavie found the short grass off the tee and cautiously laid up with his second. His third stopped 12 feet from the putt, and barring a four-putt from that distance, Reavie would hoist the trophy.

He only needed one putt. Reavie sank the birdie putt to get the three-shot win.

"I attacked when I felt like I had good numbers and I played towards the middle of the green when I didn't have good numbers," said Reavie, who pocketed $900,000 for the win.

The victory gave Reavie a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, got him in next year's Masters and earned him an invitation to next week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Canada's own Mike Weir carded a two-under 69 on Sunday and tied for fifth with Nicholas Thompson (69) and Scott McCarron (71). The trio came in at 12-under 272.

Kim bogeyed his last two holes for a four-over 75. He shared eighth place with Kevin Na (68) and Glen Day (68) at minus-11.

Jim Furyk's bid for three straight titles came up short on Sunday. He shot a one-under 70 in the final round and tied for 14th place at nine-under-par 275.
