Bronx, NY (Best E Casino) - The New York Yankees strengthened their bench before the trade deadline, acquiring first baseman/outfielder Craig Wilson from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for pitcher Shawn Chacon. Chacon began the season in the rotation after a strong finish to the 2005 campaign. He was acquired before last year's trade deadline from Colorado and was 7-3 with a 2.85 earned run average in 14 games. This year, however, has been a struggle. The 28-year-old right-hander has a record of 5-3, but a lofty ERA of 7.00 in 17 games, including 11 starts. He spent time on the disabled list with a left leg hematoma and lost his spot in the rotation in early July. In 181 games, including 106 starts, with the Rockies and Yankees, Chacon has a record of 36-51 with a 5.09 ERA. He was a closer for the Rockies in 2004, posting 35 saves. Wilson was batting .267 with 13 homers and 41 runs batted in over 85 games for the Pirates this season. He had made 40 starts at first base and 23 in right field. The 29-year-old owns a career average of .268 with 94 homers and 282 RBI in 634 big league games -- all with Pittsburgh.
