Cincinnati, OH (Best E Casino) - Jorge De La Rosa was solid on the hill and helped his own cause with a two-run single, as the surging Colorado Rockies downed the Cincinnati Reds, 5-1, in the second of three weekend games at Great American Ball Park.

De La Rosa (5-5) gave up one run on two hits with eight strikeouts and five walks over 6 2/3 innings to get the win. Manny Corpas and Taylor Buchholz combined to toss 2 1/3 frames of no-hit ball in relief.

Yorvit Torrealba and Troy Tulowitzki each had two hits and drove in a run for Colorado, which has won eight of its last nine games. Brad Hawpe, Ian Stewart and Garrett Atkins collected two hits apiece, with Atkins and Stewart scoring a run.

Homer Bailey (0-4), the seventh overall pick in the 2004 draft, went just 4 2/3 innings and was touched for five runs -- four earned -- on 15 hits to absorb the loss for Cincinnati, which has dropped all six games in which he's appeared this season. Four relievers combined to allowed just one hit in 4 1/3 innings of relief.

Ken Griffey Jr's 14th home run of the season provided the scoring for the Reds, who have lost four of their last six games. Adam Dunn recorded the other hit for Cincinnati - a lead-off single in the seventh.

The Rockies scored four times in the fifth inning to break open a 1-1 game. Bailey fanned Matt Holliday to open the frame, but Colorado then strung together six consecutive singles. Hawpe sliced a single to right and Atkins reached on an infield hit. Stewart followed with a knock to right. Hawpe attempted to score on the play, but was thrown out at the plate.

Tulowitzki then punched a single to left that brought home Atkins with the go- ahead run. Torrealba continued the assault with a grounder up the middle and De La Rosa's two-run single gave the visitors a 5-1 lead and chased Bailey from the game.

Corpas tossed a 1-2-3 eighth and Buchholz repeated the feat in the ninth.

After stranding a pair of runners in the first, Colorado grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second with help of an error by Edwin Encarnacion. Tulowitzki and Torrealba hit consecutive singles with one out. After a De La Rosa sacrifice bunt, Willy Taveras hit a grounder to Encarnacion, whose wild throw pulled Joey Votto off the bag at first and allowed Tulowitzki to cross the plate.

Bailey's defense picked him up in the top of the fourth as center fielder Jay Bruce threw a strike to cut down Torrealba at the plate. Meanwhile, Cincinnati was still in search of its first hit, as De La Rosa had faced the minimum through three. After the lefty set down the first two batters in the home fourth, Griffey launched a 1-1 fastball to the seats in left. The home run upped his career total to 607, two behind Sammy Sosa for fifth place on the all-time list, and tied the game at one.

Game Notes

The start of the game was delayed 46 minutes due to rain...The Rockies left 11 men on base, while Cincinnati stranded five...Cincinnati's Mike Lincoln retired the Rockies in order in the eighth to extend his scoreless streak to 16 1/3 innings. It's the longest streak by a Reds pitcher this season and the longest active streak in the National League...Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez (6-9) and Cincinnati's Josh Fogg (2-2) are scheduled to start Sunday's series finale.
