New Orleans, LA (Best E Casino) - The New Orleans Saints signed their second-round draft pick, cornerback Tracy Porter to a four-year contract, the team announced Friday. The team also released veteran tight end Eric Johnson following the team's acquisition of Jeremy Shockey from the Giants earlier this week. Selected 40th overall, Porter was a four-year starter at Indiana, with 29 starts at right corner, 13 on the left side and one at strong safety. He was an All-Big 10 selection as a senior with six interceptions, having picked off 16 passes over his four years in Bloomington and setting an Indiana all-time record with 413 yards in interception returns. Porter was also a special teams standout, with 477 punt return yards including an 86-yard touchdown. He is also the only player in school history to return a punt, interception and a fumble for a touchdown. Johnson, 28, spent the first six seasons of his career in San Francisco before signing a one-year deal to play for the Saints prior to the 2007 season. A seventh-round pick out of Yale in 2001, Johnson has amassed 240 catches for 2,178 yards and nine touchdowns in his career. Johnson had a career year for the 49ers in 2004, with 82 grabs for 825 yards and two scores, but missed two entire seasons to injuries. He sat out 2003 with a broken collarbone, and missed 2005 with a torn plantar fascia.
