Houston, TX (Best E Casino) - The Houston Astros recalled pitcher Runelvys Hernandez from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Hernandez started Monday's tilt with the Pittsburgh Pirates opposite John Van Benschoten.

Hernandez gave up two runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work, receiving a no-decision in Pittsburgh's 9-3 comeback win.

He replaces pitcher Roy Oswalt on the active roster. Oswalt was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained left hip abductor injury as well as a lingering, minor herniated disc. Oswalt's trip to the DL is retroactive to July 12.

Hernandez is 0-3 with a 8.38 ERA in four starts with Houston this season.
