Bronx, NY (Best E Casino) - The New York Yankees placed catcher Jorge Posada on the 15-day disabled list with pain in his right shoulder. The five- time All-Star will have an MRI on the shoulder Tuesday to determine if he should have season-ending surgery. "I've been trying to gut it out and now I got to look at the situation," Posada said. Posada spent 32 games on the disabled list earlier this season with right rotator cuff tendinitis. When he returned he was unable to make routine throws without feeling pain in his shoulder. The 36-year-old is batting .268 this season with three homers and 22 runs batted in while playing only 51 games. Posada has appeared in at least 110 games every season since 1998 and has been one of the most prolific offensive catchers in recent history. The Yankees also activated outfielder Johnny Damon, who was out with a left shoulder contusion, from the disabled list. He will be leading off in the designated hitter spot as New York opens a three-game set with the Minnesota Twins Monday. New York left fielder Hideki Matsui, who is on the DL with soreness in his left knee, opted against season-ending knee surgery and will attempt to rehab the knee.
