Colorado Springs, CO (Best E Casino) - Center Tyson Chandler has withdrawn from training with the 2008 USA Basketball Men's Senior National Team due to an inflamed left big toe, the team's managing director Jerry Colangelo announced Saturday. Chandler accepted an invitation to train with the team earlier in the week, but the injury has curtailed the 7-foot-1 Hornets center from helping the team prepare for play in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, slated to take place August 10-24. His presence stemmed from the unknown status of Orlando's Dwight Howard, who is the team's lone center. Howard is recovering from a chest injury, but is still expected to make the trip to Beijing. The 25-year-old Chandler participated in the 2007 FIBA Americans Championship, averaging 2.1 points and 3.6 rebounds to go with 14 blocks for the gold-medal winning Americans. The forwards for the Olympic team include Denver's Carmelo Anthony, Toronto's Chris Bosh, Utah's Carlos Boozer, Cleveland's LeBron James and Detroit's Tayshaun Prince. LA's Kobe Bryant, Dallas' Jason Kidd, New Orleans' Chris Paul, Milwaukee's Michael Redd, Miami's Dwyane Wade and Utah's Deron Williams make up the versatile backcourt.
