Denver, CO (Best E Casino) - The Colorado Rockies recalled infielder Ian Stewart from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday while designating infielder Jayson Nix for assignment. Stewart, 23, will be making his second appearance for Colorado this season, having hit .218 with three home runs and five RBI in 18 games from May 24-June 20. Stewart was batting .280 with 19 home runs and 57 RBI in 69 games at Colorado Springs, ranking fourth in the Pacific Coast League with a .607 slugging percentage. The 25-year-old Nix started at second base this season for the Rockies on opening day, but scuffled to a meager .125 average with two RBI in 22 games at the big-league level.
