Cincinnati, OH (Best E Casino) - The Cincinnati Reds have placed pitcher Jared Burton on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right lat muscle.

The move is retroactive to July 11.

Burton has appeared in 43 games out of the bullpen this season and has been one of the club's most reliable relievers. The right-hander has a record of 4-1 with a 2.73 earned run average. He has allowed just 45 hits in 48 1/3 innings with 50 strikeouts.

The Reds recalled pitcher Todd Coffey from Triple-A Louisville to fill the vacant roster spot. Coffey pitched in 14 games earlier this season for the Reds and has no record with a 6.46 ERA.
