(Best E Casino) - Thanks to a near franchise-record winning streak, the New York Mets are tied atop the standings in the National League East. The team will try for its club record-tying 11th straight win tonight in the second portion of a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

New York rallied from two runs down with a four-run ninth frame to claim a 10-8 victory in Thursday night's opener and has now won 10 straight for the first time since July 1-13, 1991. Four times in team history New York has won 11 consecutive tests, last doing so on June 17-29, 1990. The Mets also won 11 games in a row during the 1986, 1972 and 1969 seasons.

David Wright tied last night's contest with a two-run homer in the ninth, and Carlos Beltran and Damion Easley each followed with singles to put runners on the corners. Carlos Delgado then put the Mets ahead with a run-scoring single and Fernando Tatis followed with an RBI double to account for the final score.

Wright ended with four RBI, while Tatis and Delgado each drove in three runs. Tatis also homered.

Billy Wagner, who blew a save chance in Tuesday's All-Star game, retired all three batters faced in the bottom of the ninth for his 23rd save of the season.

With the win, the Mets moved into a tie with the Philadelphia Phillies for the top spot in the NL East. It marks the first time New York has held at least a share of the division lead since a win over the Phils on April 19.

New York turns tonight to John Maine, who has struggled over his last three starts. Maine has failed to go longer than 5 2/3 innings and has been charged with 11 runs (9 earned) over his last three outings. In a no-decision versus the Giants on July 10, the right-hander allowed three runs on two hits and five walks over 4 2/3 innings.

Maine, who is 8-6 with a 3.99 earned run average on the season, has lost both of his career starts versus the Reds. That includes a setback in Cincinnati on September 5 of last year, when he allowed six runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 frames.

Adam Dunn and Edwin Encarnacion both hit back-to-back homers during a five-run fourth inning for the Reds, who have lost two straight and dropped the opener of their 10-game homestand. Jay Bruce plated a run during that frame, while Jeff Keppinger brought home two runners with a triple. Javier Valentin added a three-run double in the seventh.

Dunn's homer was his 27th of the season, second most in the majors. He has six long balls in his last eight games. Brandon Phillips went 1-for-5 in last night's game and is 3-for-5 with two homers and seven RBI in his career off Maine.

Bronson Arroyo will try to win his fourth straight start tonight since a 10- run, one-inning disaster versus Toronto on June 24. Arroyo, though, gave up just two runs (1 earned) over his next two starts following that outing and escaped with a win versus the Cubs on July 10. The right-hander gave up five runs on seven hits over five innings of a 12-7 victory.

Arroyo is now 7-7 with a 5.97 ERA on the season and is 3-2 with a 3.71 ERA and two complete games in six career starts versus the Mets. That includes a win on May 10 of this year, an outing that saw the 31-year-old toss eight innings of one-run ball.

Wright, Delgado and Carlos Beltran are hitting a combined .196 (9-for-46) versus Arroyo in their careers.

New York won two of three when these clubs met at Shea Stadium in May. The Mets have also won seven of the last nine in the series and four of the last five in Cincinnati.
