Stateline, NV (Best E Casino) - Former major league pitcher Rick Rhoden collected 22 points in the modified Stableford scoring system on Saturday to grab a two-point lead after two days of the American Century Championship.

Rhoden, a six-time winner of this event, completed two rounds with 45 points at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is alone in second place with 43 points.

First-round leader Jeremy Roenick and fellow ex-NHL star Pierre Larouche are tied for third place with 41 points. Roenick tallied 15 points on day two, while Larouche collected 18 points on the second day.

Under the modified Stableford scoring system, players are awarded 10 points for a double-eagle, eight points for a hole-in-one, six points for an eagle, three points for a birdie, one point for a par and zero points for a bogey. Two points are subtracted for each score of double-bogey or worse.

The $600,000 tournament is billed as the most prestigious and richest celebrity tournament in golf.

Rhoden, who owns 22 wins in the Celebrity circuit, posted five birdies and nine pars to collect points on Saturday. He did however lose points with a double-bogey on the par-four 10th.

Another former hockey player, Dan Quinn, shares fifth place with a pair of former NFL players. Quinn, a four-time winner here, picked up 22 points Saturday to get to 39. He was joined there by former quarterback Mark Rypien (16 points) and Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor (21 points).

Actor Jack Wagner, who won this title in 2006, scored 19 points in round two to move to 37 points. He was joined in eighth place by Denver Bronco great John Elway (27) as well as former NHLers Brett Hull (12) and Grant Fuhr (16).

Defending champion Chris Chandler is one of five players tied for 12th with 35 points.

The event has raised more than $3 million since 1990. This year's beneficiary is the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
