Tatis finished 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for the Mets, who have won a season-high six straight. David Wright ripped a pair of doubles, walked twice and scored two runs.
John Maine went only 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on two hits for New York. The right-hander also walked five and matched his season-high with eight strikeouts. Scott Schoeneweis (1-2) tossed a scoreless seventh to pick up the win. The Mets pitching staff surrendered just three hits in each game of this series.
Randy Winn had a two-run double for the Giants, who have dropped four in a row and slipped to 3-7 in their last 10 games overall. John Bowker was 2-for-3 with a double a run scored.
San Francisco starter Barry Zito gave up three runs -- two earned -- on four hits and walked six in five-plus innings but did not receive a decision. Sergio Romo (0-1) was saddled with the loss after he was roughed up for three runs -- two earned -- on three hits in 1 2/3 frames.
"I felt like I had pretty good rhythm out there," Zito said.
With the game deadlocked at three, New York erupted for four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Wright got things started with a double and Tatis put the Mets ahead for good with one-out smash to left-center.
"It was a fastball away and I just jumped on it," Tatis said of his home run.
After Carlos Delgado flied out, Nick Evans singled and Jack Taschner took over the mound duties. Brian Schneider then drew a walk and pinch-hitter Damion Easley reached on Jose Castillo's throwing error, which allowed Evans to score. Schneider advanced to third on the play and scored on an RBI single by Jose Reyes.
Duaner Sanchez pitched a scoreless eighth and Billy Wagner needed only five pitches to finish the game in the ninth.
The Mets opened the scoring in the bottom of the third. With one gone in the frame, Argenis Reyes singled before Wright reached first on Castillo's fielding error. Carlos Beltran then hit a soft liner over the head of shortstop Emmanuel Burriss that plated Reyes and Tatis stroked a two-run double to the alley in right-center for a 3-0 lead.
San Francisco registered its first run of the series in the top of the fourth when Bowker ripped a one-out double, took third on an Eliezer Alfonzo groundout and scampered home on a wild pitch.
The Giants evened the score in the fifth. Maine issued consecutive walks to Zito and Fred Lewis and, after Burriss went down swinging, Winn lined a two- run double into the left-field corner.
