Boston, MA (Best E Casino) - Tim Wakefield allowed two hits and no runs over seven innings, and Kevin Cash hit a key three-run homer as Boston topped Arizona, 5-0, in the finale of a three-game interleague set from Fenway Park. Wakefield (5-5) fanned six with only one walk, tying his season low for hits allowed which was first set in an eight-inning 5-0 victory at Detroit on May 6. Cash slugged his first homer of the season for the Red Sox, who took two of three in the series and have won three of four overall. Brandon Moss knocked in a pair of runs while Mike Lowell added two hits and scored three times. Kevin Youkilis returned to the lineup at first base after missing Tuesday's game with an eye injury suffered during Monday's game. He collected a single in four at-bats. Orlando Hudson finished 2-for-4 for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped five of six. Randy Johnson (4-6) was charged with eight hits and two runs over six innings en route to losing his fifth consecutive start.

Final Score: NY Yankees 10, Pittsburgh 0

Pittsburgh, PA (Best E Casino) - Joba Chamberlain was effective in 6 2/3 innings on the mound to pick up his first win as a starter, and the New York Yankees crushed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 10-0, in the middle contest of a three-game interleague set from PNC Park. Chamberlain (2-2) allowed six hits and fanned seven while walking just one for the Yankees, who bounced back from a 12-5 loss Tuesday to win for the ninth time in 12 games. Bobby Abreu had three hits, including a double and a three-run home run, driving in four runs. Derek Jeter had three hits, including a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, all part of New York's 16-hit attack. Zach Duke (4-5) took the loss as he was touched for four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits in five innings. Jack Wilson was 3-for-3 and Ryan Doumit had two hits for the Pirates, losers in five of their last eight games.

Final Score: San Francisco 4, Cleveland 1

Cleveland, OH (Best E Casino) - Barry Zito put together his best and longest outing of the season, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 4-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians in the middle contest of a three-game interleague set. The much- maligned Zito (3-11) hurled 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball on four hits without issuing a walk. The former Cy Young Award winner struck out four in the win. Zito continues to lead the majors in losses with 11 in 16 starts. This also marked his first interleague victory since June 16, 2006, a span of nine such decisions. Jose Castillo had three hits, including a homer, double and scored twice for the Giants. Aaron Rowand had a two-run single. John Bowker added a solo insurance home run for San Francisco, which has taken the first two games of this series. Jeremy Sowers (0-3) kept the Indians in the game through seven innings, but was victimized by a lack of run support, giving up three runs on nine hits and five walks. The southpaw struck out three in the loss. Jamey Carroll had two of Cleveland's six hits while Kelly Shoppach doubled and scored the lone run on a Shin-Soo Choo pinch-hit RBI single for the Tribe, who have dropped three straight.

Final Score: Detroit 8, St. Louis 7

Detroit, MI (Best E Casino) - Gary Sheffield had four hits, including the winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning, boosting the Detroit Tigers to an 8-7 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in a game delayed nearly 2 1/2 hours by rain. Sheffield, who came off the disabled list Tuesday, helped the Tigers to their 11th win in 14 games. Carlos Guillen also had four hits, including a three-run homer. Todd Jones (3-0), who wooed the crowd with an impersonation of teammate Magglio Ordonez during the rain delay, threw the ninth inning to get the victory. Kyle McClellan (0-3) suffered the loss, as the Cardinals faltered in the middle contest of the three-game set. Rick Ankiel hit a pair of solo homers and knocked in three runs for St. Louis. Kyle Lohse allowed 11 hits and five runs over the first four innings for the Cardinals, while Armando Galarraga was charged with eight hits and five runs -- four earned -- in 4 2/3 frames during the start for the Tigers.

Final Score: Cincinnati 6, Toronto 5 (10 innings)

Toronto, ON (Best E Casino) - Jay Bruce hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to lift the Cincinnati Reds over the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-5, in the second contest of a three-game set at Rogers Centre. Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer for the Reds, who snapped a two-game skid and won for just the third time in their last 10 games. Cincinnati blew a five-run lead in this one, but was still able to bounce back from a 14-1 drubbing on Tuesday. Adam Lind and Joe Inglett each blasted two-run homers for the Blue Jays, who had a modest two-game win streak halted and lost for the eighth time in 10 contests. Alex Rios added three hits in the losing effort. The game went to extra innings knotted at five, but Bruce drove in Norris Hopper with the sacrifice fly to left for the go-ahead run. Blue Jays reliever Brian Wolfe (0-2) hurt himself by walking Hopper and Paul Janish to start the inning before a David Ross sacrifice bunt moved Hopper to third. Bruce's fly ball came off Jesse Carlson. Jared Burton (4-1) earned the victory in two scoreless innings in which he surrendered one hit and one walk, while striking out three. Francisco Cordero tossed a perfect inning to register his 15th save of the campaign. Aaron Harang yielded five runs on seven hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings in the start for the Reds, while Roy Halladay surrendered five runs on nine hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 frames.

Final Score: Tampa Bay 15, Florida 3

Miami, FL (Best E Casino) - Carl Crawford homered twice and drove in five runs, and the Tampa Bay Rays scored 10 runs in the fifth inning en route to a 15-3 decimation of the Florida Marlins in the middle contest of their three- game set at Dolphin Stadium. Evan Longoria went 3-for-6 with a homer, a double and three runs batted in for the Rays, winners of two straight, and seven of 10 overall. Ben Zobrist added a solo homer, and every Tampa Bay starter had a hit and scored a run. In the midst of the offensive explosion, James Shields (5-5) tossed seven strong innings, holding the Marlins to a run on four hits, striking out five without issuing a walk. Marlins starter Ryan Tucker (2-2) was shelled in four-plus innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits in Florida's third straight loss. Reliever Eulogio De La Cruz was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque before the game and fared even worse, surrendering six runs -- five earned -- without recording an out. Mike Jacobs homered for the Marlins, while Dan Uggla added an RBI.

Final Score: Washington 5, LA Angels of Anaheim 4

Washington, DC (Best E Casino) - Jesus Flores' RBI single in the bottom of the ninth pushed Washington past the Los Angeles Angels, 5-4, in the finale of a three-game interleague series. Against Scot Shields (3-2), Elijah Dukes started the ninth with a single. He advanced to second on a Lastings Milledge ground out, then scored the game- deciding run when Flores drilled a ball to the gap in right-center. Milledge hit a two-run home run and scored a pair of runs for the Nationals, who salvaged a game in the set and snapped a four-game losing skid. Ronnie Belliard and Wily Mo Pena also drove in a run each. Despite allowing the Angels' tying run in the eighth, Jon Rauch (4-1) earned the win. Starter Tim Redding allowed seven hits and two runs over six full frames. Casey Kotchman went 2-for-4 and knocked in two for the Angels, whose five-game win streak was halted. Howie Kendrick and Gary Matthews Jr. added RBI in the loss. Ervin Santana gave up four runs and four hits over six innings, striking out eight but walking five in the no-decision.

Final Score: NY Mets 8, Seattle 2

Flushing, NY (Best E Casino) - After a much-needed day off, David Wright homered in his first two at-bats and the New York Mets avoided a three-game sweep with 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners at Shea Stadium. Wright had played every inning of every game this season before sitting out Tuesday's 11-0 loss. The third baseman was struggling at the plate, going 2-for-13 over his last four games entering Wednesday. Jose Reyes added a three-run homer for the Mets, who won for the second time in their last five games. John Maine (8-5) allowed two runs on five hits over six innings to pick up the win. Ichiro Suzuki and Willie Bloomquist knocked in the runs for Seattle, which had won consecutive games for the first time since May 27-28 versus Boston. Jeremy Reed was 2-for-4 and scored a run. Miguel Batista's (3-10) woes continued for Seattle, as the 37-year-old lasted only 2 2/3 innings and gave up eight runs -- four earned -- on five hits, walking five and fanning three. Relegated to the bullpen, Batista made his first start since June 7. Erik Bedard (back spasms) was originally scheduled to toe the rubber for Seattle. Roy Corcoran, Ryan Rowland-Smith, Arthur Rhodes and Brandon Morrow combined to toss 5 1/3 hitless frames in relief. The Mariners bullpen allowed only one base runner -- a two-out walk to Wright in the third -- and retired the final 16 batters, but only after New York built a huge lead.

Final Score: Texas 3, Houston 2

Houston, TX (Best E Casino) - Max Ramirez collected the first two hits of his major league career -- including a go-ahead two-run home run -- as the Texas Rangers edged the Houston Astros, 3-2, in the second of a three-game series at Minute Maid Park. Ian Kinsler went 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored for the Rangers, winners in three of their last four. Frank Catalanotto also had a pair of hits and scored a run, while Ramon Vazquez knocked in the other Texas run. Luis Mendoza (1-2) tossed three scoreless innings to earn the win in relief of Scott Feldman, who allowed two runs on six hits in four innings and was lifted after 99 pitches. C.J. Wilson survived a rocky ninth for his 16th save. The Rangers were without star slugger Josh Hamilton, who got the night off with left knee inflammation. Michael Bourn's two-run blast provided the scoring for the Astros, who had a two-game win streak snapped and fell for the 10th time in 13 games. Roy Oswalt (6-8) tossed seven strong innings -- allowing three runs on seven hits -- but dropped the decision.

Final Score: Chicago Cubs 7, Baltimore 4

Chicago, IL (Best E Casino) - Geovany Soto was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, as the Chicago Cubs took advantage of a patchwork Baltimore pitching performance with a 7-4 victory at Wrigley Field. Jim Edmonds homered and drove in two runs, and Aramis Ramirez accounted for two hits with an RBI for Chicago, which has won four of its last five. Ted Lilly (8-5) pitched well as the starter, allowing a pair of two-run homers from Jay Payton for Baltimore's only runs, on five hits and two walks while fanning four over seven innings. Luke Scott had two hits and scored once for Baltimore, which has dropped three of four. Matt Albers (3-3) was charged with four runs, three hits and a walk in just a third of an inning in taking the loss. Albers was starting for Brian Burres, who was scratched due to a stomach ailment, but then had to leave with a shoulder injury.

Final Score: Kansas City 4, Colorado 2

Kansas City, MO (Best E Casino) - Ross Gload had two doubles, two runs batted in and scored as the streaking Kansas City Royals completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 4-2 victory. David DeJesus and Alex Gordon each had an RBI for the Royals, who have won five in a row and 10 of 11 overall. Luke Hochevar (5-5) earned the win as he pitched a career-best eight innings and yielded just two runs on seven hits. Joakim Soria earned his 21st save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. Despite having one of the worst records in the American League, the Royals are making sure they are a part of the AL's recent dominance of the NL. Kansas City is a major- league best 12-3 in interleague play this year. Brad Hawpe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run for the Rockies, who have dropped four in a row. Chris Iannetta had an RBI double in defeat. Aaron Cook (10-5) was dealt the loss as he gave up four runs -- three earned -- on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Final Score: Philadelphia 4, Oakland 0

Oakland, CA (Best E Casino) - Kyle Kendrick tossed eight shutout innings, as Philadelphia snapped its longest losing streak of the season with a 4-0 win over Oakland, in the middle installment of a three-game interleague series. Kendrick (7-3) allowed just four hits and a walk, while striking out four, in his longest career outing. Chase Utley snapped out of his recent 1-for-29 funk by going 4-for-5 with a double and triple, and with it, the Phillies snapped their six-game slide. Pedro Feliz went 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI, while Chris Coste had two hits and two RBI in the win. Oakland starter Greg Smith (4-6) took the loss after allowing all four runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 frames, as the Athletics had a two-game win streak stopped. It was the eighth time in 15 starts this season Smith had received one or fewer runs in support. Jack Hannahan had Oakland's only extra-base hit, a double.

Final Score: Minnesota 9, San Diego 3

San Diego, CA (Best E Casino) - Brendan Harris and Craig Monroe clubbed two- run homers, and the Minnesota Twins got to Greg Maddux to post their eighth straight victory, 9-3, over the San Diego Padres. Carlos Gomez had three hits, including a two-run single, and Joe Mauer added a two-run double for the Twins, who are on their longest win streak since capturing eight in a row in July 2006. Brian Buscher scored three times. Glen Perkins (4-2) allowed six hits and three runs over five innings to win his second consecutive start, as the Twins moved within a half-game of the Chicago White Sox for first place in the AL Central. Maddux (3-6) was lit up for seven hits and seven runs -- six earned -- over 5 2/3 innings to remain winless in his last nine starts. The four-time Cy Young Award winner has three losses in that span with his last win, the 350th of his career, coming May 10 versus Colorado. It's the second-longest drought of his Hall of Fame caliber career, as Maddux went 13 starts between wins in 1990. Scott Hairston had two hits and an RBI double for the Padres, who have lost four in a row and eight of nine.

Final Score: LA Dodgers 5, Chicago White Sox 0

Los Angeles, CA (Best E Casino) - Eric Stults tossed his first career shutout, as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Chicago White Sox, 5-0, in the middle installment of a three-game interleague set at Chavez Ravine. Stults (2-0), making his second start for the Dodgers since being promoted from the minors to take the injured Brad Penny's spot in the rotation, scattered four hits, struck out three and walked one. Stults also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Blake DeWitt doubled home two runs for Los Angeles, which has won two of its last three contests. Andre Ethier and Russell Martin also drove in a run. Chicago starter Gavin Floyd (8-4) went 5 1/3 innings and gave up five runs -- four earned -- on six hits after going 4-0 in his previous five starts. It was his first loss since May 23. Alexei Ramirez finished 2-for-3 for the White Sox, who have dropped four of its last five games. A.J. Pierzynski and Jermaine Dye had the other hits for Chicago.
