New York, NY (Best E Casino) - Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye was selected as the American League Player of the Week for the period ending June 22. Dye hit .417 with three doubles, five home runs and 13 runs batted in during the week. The 34-year-old also posted a 1.167 slugging percentage and a .440 on-base percentage en route to picking up his fifth career weekly award. During a three-game interleague set with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Dye went 5- for-11 with three home runs and nine RBI, including a multi-homer game on June 19. Over the weekend, the two-time All-Star was 5-for-13 with two home runs and four RBI against the crosstown rival Chicago Cubs. Others considered for the award were Boston's Dustin Pedroia, who batted .500; Oakland's Kurt Suzuki, who batted .500 with 10 runs batted in; and New York's Andy Pettitte, who was 2-0 with 13 scoreless innings.
