(Best E Casino) - Big changes could be coming in New Jersey. Jason Kidd was traded to Dallas prior to the trade deadline, and Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson may be the subject of trade talk during the offseason.
Point guard Devin Harris, who was acquired in the Kidd deal, is one of the building blocks, He averaged 14.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 64 games for New Jersey and Dallas.
Jefferson led the Nets in scoring (22.6 ppg) and was the only Net to play in all 82 regular-season contests, while Carter averaged 21.3 points, 6.0 boards and 5.1 assists in 76 outings.
New general manager Kiki Vandeweghe will try and build around Harris. He has some assets to work with. Carter and Jefferson both have value on the trade market, while the Nets own three picks in the draft (10, 21, 40).
If the Nets hold on to their picks they should try and get a low-post presence and another threat from the outside. Indiana's Eric Gordon or Russell Westbrook of UCLA would look good next to Harris in the New Jersey backcourt. Both are viable options at No. 10.
With its second pick in round one, JaVale McGee of Nevada, Robin Lopez of Stanford, North Carolina State's JJ Hickson and Rider's Jason Thompson would all be positive additions. The Nets have a chance to acquire two players who should be in the rotation from the start.
This is a very important offseason for Vandeweghe and the Nets, as it will dictate the direction the team is headed.
