Philadelphia, PA (Best E Casino) - Jon Lester tossed seven sparkling innings, and the Boston Red Sox downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-0, in the middle of a three-game interleague matchup.

Lester (6-3) fanned five and walked one, scattering six hits over seven scoreless frames for Boston. Coco Crisp homered for the Red Sox, who rebounded from a loss in the opener of the series and have won five of seven.

Jamie Moyer (7-4) struggled through five erratic innings, surrendering two runs on four hits with five walks and four strikeouts for Philadelphia, which has lost three of four.

"I think the game plan was to make him throw the ball over the plate and also work the count. They were very patient with him," said Phillies manager Charlie Manuel. Moyer threw 106 pitches -- only 57 for strikes -- in just five frames.

The heart of the Phillies lineup -- Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell -- went a combined 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts.

The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Moyer issued a leadoff walk to Jason Varitek, and Sean Casey grounded into a fielder's choice. Moyer then hung a pitch to Crisp, who belted it out to left for his fifth homer of the season and a 2-0 Red Sox lead. Moyer walked two more later in the frame, but was able to strike out J.D. Drew to keep the damage to two runs.

Ryan Madson came on in relief of Moyer against the bottom of the Red Sox order in the sixth, but couldn't keep the deficit at 2-0. Crisp legged out a one-out infield single, stole second and third, and came across on Julio Lugo's double to left.

The Phillies, meanwhile, were never able to get a rally going. Jayson Werth and Pedro Feliz rapped consecutive two-out singles in the seventh, but Carlos Ruiz grounded into a fielder's choice to end that threat. Jimmy Rollins roped a one-out double to left in the eighth, but Shane Victorino flied out and Utley struck out to end the inning.

Utley is mired in an 0-for-16 slump, dropping his batting average to .299.

"He's kind of getting out on his front side. It looks like he's not seeing the ball good, his timing's off," said Manuel.

Jonathan Papelbon came on in the ninth and struck out the side to lock down the win and his 20th save of the season.

The Phillies have been shut out four times this season...Utley's career-long drought is an 0-for-17 in 2004...Manny Ramirez went 1-for-3 off of Moyer with a single. Ramirez has 10 career homers off of Moyer, the most by any active player off of any active pitcher...Lester made his fourth scoreless outing of the season. He has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last 10 starts.
